It's useful if you hided the interface and you can't see your life going low. To reactivate it type ² again, you won't see it but by typing tm again after, it will appear. But don't worry it's still there so press ² to close it and you can play. When you pressed tm in the console, the console will be invisible too. Your screenshot is wasted if you don't use it. (Have you never notice that you didn't got any shadow in first person view ? But it magically appears when you're in third person view ?)
